Happy and safe Thanksgiving to all of our Hampstead families! We are grateful for you!

To celebrate Thanksgiving, the hallways became alive with our own first-grade version of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade called “Balloons Over Broadway.” Students designed their own balloon characters during the week, some with help from their fourth grade buddies. The excited first graders and their teachers then paraded around the school today showcasing their creative and fun balloon designs.
Our Kindergarteners also participated in the parade with their "Turkey Trot" in which they showcased the colorful turkeys they have been working on all week. Students put a lot of time and creative detail into their turkey friends! Today was a day of festive Thanksgiving fun throughout the school! Happy Thanksgiving from HCS!

Students in PE just finished their Cup-Stacking unit. Students learned the six stack and how to stack up and down. Students in grades 3 and 4 participated in a ladder tournament. All grade levels were a part of the World Stacking Association Challenge. Way to go!

Last week our second graders shared with the entire school community how to "Be cool, follow the rule... Be a good citizen! " The second graders designed posters and gave examples of how to be a good school citizen in the cafeteria, lunch, and hallways. Good citizenship topics included things like " Be a good friend and include others," "Wait patiently and take turns ," and "Honor other people's Hula Hoop Space." Student posters were then hung up in the cafeteria as a reminder for all on how to be a good citizen. Well done Grade 2!

Recently, our third graders had the opportunity to participate in Caine's Arcade, an interactive, collaborative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) project. Each group collaborated on one arcade design to construct. Over the course of several days, the third grade students used the engineering design model to plan, build, revise and construct the games. The project culminated in a special day where students were able to celebrate their accomplishments through a day of playing each other's games. Well done Gr 3!

Last week some 7th grade friends from HMS came to visit our younger students to participate in "Big Feet, Little Feet," an interactive event featuring games, activities, and fun between the "big kids" and the "little kids." It was a fun event and a great example of partnership between HCS and HMS! Thank you 7th graders for coming to visit us!

Recently, students in grades K-3 went unplugged and screen-free for a week of STEM activities during technology class. Kindergarten students made oobleck and learned that oobleck is both a liquid and a solid! First—and second-grade students learned about chemical reactions when combining baking soda and vinegar and how they can inflate a balloon! Third graders created paper bats and discovered that the shape of wings can help them fly longer distances! We didn't forget fourth grade! While fourth graders did not go unplugged, they used their creativity to complete digital glyphs!

ABC (Anti-Bullying Club) recently visited Danville Elementary School to share their important message. ABC’s mission is to promote kindness, acceptance, and tolerance, inspiring others to “Do the Right Thing” when confronted with bullying. Our group, composed of 5th to 8th graders, creates and performs skits, songs, facts, and poems on themes such as peer pressure, bus behavior, being yourself, and lunchtime dynamics, specifically designed for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Mrs. Bonnell, Mrs. Pollard, and Mrs. Doyle are incredibly proud of the club’s hard work and dedication.

Last Friday our fourth graders had the opportunity to visit the NH State House and the NH Historical Society Museum in Concord. The field trip featured a tour of the statehouse, a visit to the senate and house chambers, meeting local representatives, and a visit to the governor's office. Students also received a copy of the NH Constitution. While at the Historical Society Museum, students learned about NH history and artifacts of the past. It was a great opportunity for our students to learn about and celebrate our great state of New Hampshire!

Boys soccer is playing in the championship game right now against Litchfield. At the half it is 1-1.

Our girls soccer team took on a first place and undefeated Raymond middle school team. After jumping to an early lead, Raymond battled back and tied the game at 2-2 with just under 10 minutes left in regulation which sent the game into overtime. The teams continued to battle until Raymond scored the game winner near the end of the 2nd overtime to win 3-2. The loss ends our Hawks season with an overall record of 6-2-4 with their only two losses coming against a top ranked Raymond team. Good season Hawks!
